Moreno Valley will commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with multiple events throughout the community. 

“This somber day allows us to reflect on the thousands of lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania,” said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, the Mayor of Moreno Valley. “On this day, we should also think of the bravery and resilience of our first responders and our armed forces, who set out to defend and protect our values.”

Residents are invited to place flowers at the foot of the September 11th memorial at Fire Station 99 Station, located at 13400 Morrison Street, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Since this is an active fire station, please stay clear of the bay doors and do not block fire trucks from responding to emergencies. Ample street parking will be available. The memorial at Fire Station 99 features a beam salvaged from the wreckage of the World Trade Center. It commemorates the nearly 3,000 victims of the attacks, which included 343 firefighters and 60 police officers.

The Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) will also hold a September 11 Commemorative Event at 9 a.m. at the MVUSD district offices at 25634 Alessandro Boulevard. Speakers will include MVUSD Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora and representatives from March Air Reserve Base and the Riverside County Fire Department.

Later in the evening, the City will illuminate the iconic “M” on Box Springs Mountain in patriotic red, white and blue colors in remembrance of those lives lost and to commemorate the National Day of Service.

Moreno Valley honra las Vidas Perdidas durante el Ataques del 11 de septiembre

Moreno Valley conmemorará el vigésimo aniversario de los ataques del 11 de septiembre con varios eventos en toda la comunidad.

“Este día sombrío nos permite reflexionar sobre las miles de vidas perdidas en el World Trade Center, el Pentágono y en Shanksville, Pensilvania”, dijo el Dr. Yxstian A. Gutiérrez, alcalde de Moreno Valley. "En este día, también debemos pensar en la valentía y la resistencia de nuestros primeros respondedores y nuestras fuerzas armadas, que se propusieron defender y proteger nuestros valores".

Se invita a los residentes a colocar flores al pie del monumento del 11 de septiembre en la estación de bomberos 99, ubicada en 13400 Morrison Street, de 8 a.m. a 5 p.m. Porque es una estación activa, manténgase alejado de las puertas de la bahía y no bloquee los camiones de bomberos previniendo que respondan a las emergencias. Habrá mucho estacionamiento en la calle. El monumento en la estación de bomberos 99 presenta una viga rescatada de los restos del World Trade Center. Conmemora las casi 3.000 víctimas de los ataques, entre los que se encuentran 343 bomberos y 60 oficiales de policía.

El Distrito Escolar Unificado de Moreno Valley (MVUSD) también llevará a cabo un Evento Conmemorativo del 11 de septiembre a las 9 a.m. en las oficinas del distrito de MVUSD en 25634 Alessandro Boulevard. Los oradores incluirán al superintendente de MVUSD, Dr. Martinrex Kedziora y representantes de la Base de la Reserva Aérea March y el Departamento de Bomberos del Condado de Riverside.
