Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) Customers Get Extra Time to Pay Bills, and May Also Qualify for Covid-19 Discount

The Mayor and City Council have unanimously approved a new Covid-19 Utility Assistance program for Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) electricity customers that includes a Covid-19 discount for qualifying customers. The Utility Assistance program is intended to help both residential and small-business customers.
Residential customers can apply for an extended payment period of 12 months to pay an outstanding balance incurred since March 2020. In addition, if a customer’s income has declined significantly due to Covid-19, the customer may also qualify for a discount of up to 30 percent, to be applied retroactively to balances accumulated since March 2020.
Small-business customers can apply for an extended payment period of up to 24 months.
"The City Council and I are doing everything in our power to relieve some of the pressure many of our residents are facing due to the coronavirus," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley.
The Utility Assistance program applies only to qualifying electricity customers of Moreno Valley Utility.

El alcalde y el ayuntamiento han aprobado por unanimidad un nuevo programa de Asistencia de Servicios Públicos Covid-19 para los clientes de electricidad de Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) que incluye un descuento Covid-19 para los clientes calificados. El programa de Asistencia de Servicios Públicos tiene por objeto ayudar a los clientes residenciales y de pequeñas empresas.
Los clientes residenciales pueden solicitar un período de pago prolongado de 12 meses para pagar un saldo pendiente desde marzo de 2020. También, si los ingresos de un cliente han disminuido significativamente debido a Covid-19, el cliente también puede calificar para un descuento de hasta el 30 por ciento, que se aplicará retroactivamente a los saldos acumulados desde marzo de 2020.
Los clientes de pequeñas empresas pueden solicitar un período de pago prolongado de hasta 24 meses.
