Moreno Valley City Council OKs Expanded Outdoor Dining to Allow for More Restaurant Customers
City Creates Streamlined One-Stop Online Permit Process

At its regular meeting on June 2, the Moreno Valley City Council approved an emergency resolution allowing restaurants to expand outdoor seating in order to serve more customers while remaining in compliance with state rules allowing for limited indoor dining with physical distancing.
The resolution allows for dining areas to be added where it can be done so safely on private property, while maintaining physical-distancing rules. Restaurants with an Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license must comply with its requirements.
The City has created a streamlined one-stop permit process online. Permit fees are waived and permits will remain in effect until the Governor lifts restrictions on inside dining.
"The state's necessary restrictions on indoor dining make it difficult for most restaurants to do enough business to stay afloat, especially those without an outdoor option," explained Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. La Ciudad de Moreno Valley Aprueba La Expansión de Áreas de Comedor Al Aire Libre Para Permitir Más Clientes en los Restaurantes
En su reunión ordinaria del 2 de junio, el Concejo Municipal de Moreno Valley aprobó una resolución de emergencia que permite a los restaurantes expandir los asientos al aire libre para atender a más clientes y cumplir con las normas estatales que permiten para cenas limitadas en interiores con distanciamiento físico.
La resolución permite agregar áreas de comedor donde se puede hacer de manera segura en propiedad privada, mientras se mantienen las reglas de distanciamiento físico. Los restaurantes con una licencia de Control de bebidas alcohólicas (ABC) deben cumplir con sus requisitos.
La Ciudad ha creado un proceso simplificado de permisos en línea. El costo de los permisos no se aplicará y los permisos permanecerán efectivos hasta que el Gobernador levante las restricciones sobre las áreas de los comedores interiores.
"Las restricciones necesarias del estado para comer en el interior dificultan que la mayoría de los restaurantes hagan suficientes negocios para mantenerse a flote, especialmente aquellos que no tienen una opción al aire libre," explicó el Dr. Yxstian Gutiérrez, Alcalde de Moreno Valley. "Permitir comer al aire libre donde se puede agregar de manera segura mantiene a los restaurantes cumpliendo con las reglas estatales mientras los ayuda a recuperarse y, con suerte, a prosperar nuevamente."
